The Social Justice Philanthropy Collaborative is a growing network of national organizations within the field of philanthropy that calls on grantmakers and donors to increase and deepen their commitment to funding social change. These national organizations express support of social justice philanthropy explicitly through their mission, values and programming.
The work of the Collaborative involves building the network to include more allies and partners, identifying activities and events that will convene a broader coalition of organizations in the Collaborative, and building power and influence in the field of philanthropy. Each organization signifies their commitment through participation in ongoing conversations, thinking, and time of their executive leadership and a trustee or board member.
This network embraces strategic relationship building among like-minded groups working for change in philanthropy. Meet our members:
The mission of the Center for Community Change is to build the power and capacity of low-income people, especially low-income people of color, to change their communities and public policies for the better.
The Daphne Foundation supports programs that confront the causes and consequences of poverty in the five boroughs of New York City. We have a particular interest in grassroots and emerging organizations engaging their community members in the creation and implementation of long-term solutions leading to self-sufficiency.
Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy
The mission of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy is to strengthen the next generation of grantmakers. They organize networking opportunities for more than 300 constituents through local chapters, develop the leadership skills for successful engagement in the workplace and broader philanthropic field, and build an advocacy voice for the next generation aimed at transforming philanthropy.
French American Charitable Trust
FACT was founded in 1989 by a French-American family to address fundamental inequalities and injustices in our society. Our mission is to help develop and sustain networks of community-based groups in the U.S. and France that educate, organize, and empower people to actively participate in developing public policies that directly affect their lives.
The Funding Exchange is a growing network of 16 public foundations and a national office that together grant nearly $15 million annually to grassroots organizations working for social, racial, economic and environmental justice around the country. They are committed to the eradication of all social injustices.
Resource Generation works with young people with financial wealth who are supporting and challenging each other to effect progressive social change through the creative, responsible and strategic use of financial and other resources. Their purpose is to promote innovative ways for young people with wealth to align their personal values and political vision with their financial resources.
National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy
NCRP promotes philanthropy that serves the public good, is responsive to people and communities with the least wealth and opportunity, and is held accountable to the highest standards of integrity and openness.
The Needmor mission is to work with others to bring about social justice. The Needmor Fund supports people who work together to change the social, economic, or political conditions which bar their access to participation in a democratic society
The Neighborhood Funders Group is a membership association of grantmaking institutions. Their mission is to strengthen the capacity of organized philanthropy to understand and support community-based efforts to organize and improve the economic and social fabric of low-income urban neighborhoods and rural communities.
The Sillerman Center for the Advancement of Philanthropy
The Sillerman Center, established in 2008, builds upon the expertise of the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. The Center, committed to developing and diffusing knowledge and strengthening philanthropy that advances social justice, works in the areas of research, education and practice.
